The new PayPal Checkout (Germany) and PUI configuration

The new PayPal Checkout offer

The PayPal Plus offer used by users of a PayPal Germany account has been discontinued in favour of the PayPal Checkout solution. Starting with version 5.7.0, the official PayPal module allows merchants to adapt to this change. To use the PayPal module in version 5.X, it is necessary to use PrestaShop versions greater than or equal to 1.7.0 Older versions of PrestaShop are not compatible with the latest features of the PayPal module. The new version of the module including PayPal Checkout also integrates new payment methods:

- Pay Later (payment in 3 or 4 instalments depending on the country) - Pay Upon Invoice (to pay the order within 30 days) - APM (any alternative payment method) - ACDC (credit and debit card payments) To enable your customers to use these payment methods, you will need
- a PayPal Business Germany account - an online shop based in Germany - a version of PrestaShop v1.7 or higher - enable shipping to Germany To take advantage of all the new features, don't forget to activate the use of Webhooks in the module configuration.

Pay Later

PUI

PUI (Payment Upon Invoice) is a widely used payment method in Germany. It allows customers to purchase products and pay after delivery if they are satisfied with the items and wish to keep them. Users of the module with a PayPal Business Germany account will need to configure the module to allow PayPal to synchronise the tracking numbers of orders sent. In the event of a dispute between the merchant and the buyer, the tracking number is used by PayPal to verify whether the package was shipped to the buyer. This configuration is therefore mandatory. If the carriers are not synchronised, the PayPal payment method will not be displayed on the site. To configure the PUI, click on the "Partner referral sign-up link" button in the "Account Settings" section, "Setup" tab.

Then, synchronise PrestaShop carriers to PayPal couriers in the "Experience" tab of the module configuration page.

Save the changes. The module will indicate that PUI is active.

APM

With alternative payment methods, customers around the world can pay with their bank accounts, wallets and other local payment methods. For example, a customer in the Netherlands may want to pay using iDEAL, which is used by more than half of Dutch consumers for online purchases, while a customer in Belgium on the same website may want to pay using Bancontact, a popular payment method in that country.
